4 Kiss Spoiler Review: Found (Brides of the Kindred #4) by Evangeline Anderson

12891829

A warrior with a scarred heart who doesn’t know how to love. And the woman who must teach him how before it’s too late…
The son of the evil AllFather, Xairn is filled with conflicting emotions. On one hand, he has finally gained his freedom and cut the ties that bound him to his race and the sadistic male who is his father. But doing so has unleashed feelings in him Xairn would rather keep buried. Desires that he prayed would never manifest now rage through him and they are centered on one woman alone…

Lauren Jakes is the long lost cousin Liv and Sophie never knew they had. Abducted by the Scourge, she formed a connection with Xairn more meaningful than any other in his life. But though Lauren thinks she knows him, there is more to the huge Scourge warrior than she comprehends. A nightmare childhood and a cruel father have scarred Xairn’s heart almost past the point of healing. But that is nothing to the secret inside him—the forbidden desires coded into his very DNA itself, which urge him to commit unspeakable acts in order to sate his newly awakened hunger.
Now a conflict is brewing—both in Xairn’s soul, and aboard the Fathership where the twisted AllFather has hatched a new, malicious plot to bring his estranged son home. Can Xairn resist the brutal lust growing within him? Can he fight against his very nature which urges him to dominate and control any female he mates? Can Lauren heal his heart before the AllFather’s trap closes on both of them? And can she teach him how to love before it’s too late?

My Spoiler Review:

Y’all know I love me a tortured hero, so when Xairn’s story was presented, I couldn’t help but jump all over it!

Lauren is the cousin Sophie and Liv never knew they had. She has a bakery with troubled employees and a complicated life no one envies. Still, Lauren seems content, though she’s in desperate need of finding a way for her bakery to succeed. But all of that fades away when she’s transported from Earth onto a strange alien ship.

The All-Father has finally found the female who the prophesy of old has foretold – Lauren. With her, the Scourge race will be saved. Everything is set in motion for his nefarious plan to come about – will no one come to Lauren’s aid?

Before all hope is be lost, there’s just one thing that throws a wrench in the All-Father’s plan, his son Xairn.  The All-Father has always tortured his son, so it’s no surprise that Xairn defies him (although in small amounts), but this time, Xairn has had it. Xairn starts to develop feelings for Lauren and in order to thwart his father’s plan, he must do it all if he’s to escape his father’s side once and for all.

Lauren is intrigued by Xairn, everything from the color of his skin to his quiet, yet strong demeanor that makes her weak at the knees. Though she knows Xairn has feelings for her, too, it’s a frustrating ride for both of them because Xairn can’t take a female without torturing her first. After all, it’s Scourge DNA – that’s the reason Xairn saved Lauren from his father, and Xairn just won’t subject Lauren to his base needs. But can he hold back the lust and love he’s feeling for Lauren? And will Lauren let him?

Found also features Nadiah (a female Kindred) and Adam Rast’s (a human detective) relationship. We start to see the groundwork for what’s to come in book 5. It’s a direct reversal (somewhat) of the books so far with now a female Kindred and a human (or so we think) male.

Can the group of friends find Lauren and Xairn before the All-Father does, or is all humanity and Kindred doomed forever?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book was extremely long and drawn out. Throughout the book, we get told of all the horrible ways the Scourge mark and abuse their women, thus leading them to near extinction. Xairn holds out the whole book with Lauren teasing and provoking him along the way.
And then when it finally happens, it’s an extremely mild BDSM scene? Really? All that build up? Ugh.
Still, I got through this book and towards the end I was somewhat mildly intrigued, and I started book 5. However, this feeling was short lived and I stopped dead in my tracks after only a few chapters of book 5. I just couldn’t make it through the low self esteem back and forth dialogue and does he like me or not, I’m not good enough, blah blah constant drama, Ugh.
Someone tell me how this series ends up. I’m off this mothership. Smile
