In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.
My Review:
Cinder Linh is trying to stop Emperor Kai from marrying Queen Levena. Cinder gets unexpected help from a girl named Cress.
Cress is isolated from the world and lives imprisoned in a satellite. Cress knows all about the Queen's plans.
Meanwhile, Dr. Erland learns a secret which changes everything he knows.
Queen Levena wants to rule the world. She believes nothing will stop her plans to marry Emperor Kai and become the empress. But Cress proves the Queen wrong.
Captain Thorne, along with Cinder, Scarlet, and Wolf make plans but none of them expected to lose one of their own in the process. Will Emperor Kai marry Queen Levena? What did Dr. Erland learn? Your answers await you in Cress.
~~~~~~~~~~
This is such an action-packed installment in the Lunar Chronicles. Cress happens to be my favorite character in the series so far.
Cress's childlike attitudes and desires are a balance to Cinder and Scarlet. The Queen continues to be my most hated character. She seriously needs to be stopped.
Poor clueless Emperor Kai doesn't seem to be able to win, no matter what he does. Definitely looking forward to reading the next installment, Winter.
Cress features:
- Young Adult
- making out
- angst
- mystery
- intrigue
