Duncan: Vampires in America #5
Washington, D.C. … capital of an empire. Powerful. Exhilarating. Corrupt. And in the shadows … vampires far older than the nation itself.
A power unto himself, Duncan has served at Raphael’s side for nearly the entire two hundred years of his existence. But long laid plans have finally borne fruit, and the time has come for Duncan to leave Raphael and tackle the greatest challenge of his life. He will face treacherous vampires and murderous humans. He will rock the halls of human power if necessary. But Washington, D.C. will be his.
Emma Duquet cares nothing for vampire politics. She just wants to find her missing roommate and best friend, Lacey. But Lacey’s been playing with vampires of a particularly dangerous kind, and Emma will have to deal with the new vampire in town if she’s going to find her friend.
Battling powerful enemies who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets, Duncan and Emma will dig beneath the corruption and depravity that is Washington, D.C. and uncover the most heinous conspiracy of all …
My Review:
Duncan has been at Lord Raphael's side for a very long time and he feels like the time to forge out on his own to Washington, D.C. has finally come. But Duncan’s not going as a tourist, he’s set to become the new Vampire Lord for that territory with Lord Raphael's blessing.
Meanwhile, Emma Duquet is searching for her missing friend, Lacey. She knows her search will lead her to the Vampire Embassy if she hopes for any answers. While there, Emma makes a bold move in asking for help from the Ambassador Victor, but is surprised to learn he is no longer there.
In his place, she meets Duncan. Duncan is drawn to Emma unlike any other woman he’s met in a very long time. He tries to keep Emma out of vampire affairs, though he doesn’t get too far with that. Duncan finds that keeping Emma away isn’t an easy task, so instead he finds way to keep her involvement to the bare essentials despite those who protest otherwise. But Duncan soon finds it difficult to protect his people and Emma, too. Will they find out what happened to Lacey? Your answers await you in Duncan.

Duncan is the fifth installment in the Vampires in America Series. I truly loved learning more about Duncan's history and how powerful he really is. I so loved that Duncan couldn't seem to think straight when he was around Emma. For her part, Emma is pure spitfire and knows exactly what she wants. In this way, she's very much like Cyn. I truly enjoyed this book and I'm so looking forward to the next book in this series.
Duncan features:
- paranormal romance
- sexual content
- mystery
- vampires

Vampires in America – The Vignettes Vol. 1 (Vampires in America 5.1)
From award-winning author D. B. Reynolds come nine stories of seduction and intrigue set in her Vampires in America universe. Note: This is a 122 page compilation of SHORT STORIES, not a full-length novel.
For the first time in print … The Vampire Vignettes From New Year’s Eve on the beaches of Malibu, to love in a penthouse over Manhattan, and a challenge fought on a snowy night in Montreal, Reynolds takes us behind the scenes with seven steamy Vignettes featuring her ultimate alpha Vampire Lords and their beautiful and independent mates.
And Never Before Published – Two brand new, full-length short stories. You Belong To Me follows Duncan and his mate Emma as they consolidate power in his new territory, while generating plenty of heat in private. And then it’s time for The Wedding, as readers join Rajmund and Sarah for their big weekend ... and Cyn’s girls-night-out bachelorette party. Unfortunately, some local kidnappers have other plans, and Cyn and Sarah will have to outwit their abductors before Raphael and Raj start hunting, and the entire wedding is ruined!
My Review:
This collection of stories are about my favorite vampires and their mates. I loved seeing different aspects of Cyn and Raphael's life together! I also loved Sara and Rajmund’s stories! I loved his protective instincts towards her.
And then there’s Duncan and Emmaline's love for one another. I loved each of the vampires and how they relate to their mates. I don't think I have favorite vignette – if I had to pick one. But if I could pick two, my faves would be: The Invitation and the Christmas one. Both feature Cyn and Raphael, but they really showcase how much Raphael truly knows Cyn – even when she's trying to hide how much pain she's in, thanks to her family.

I love love this series! These vignettes just whet my appettite for more of these amazing vampires and their mates. I need to clarify a bit that while I do love Cyn and Raphael, I also like the rest of the characters. Next in line for me would be Duncan and Emma, who I admire, and they would be followed by Raj and Sarah, then Sophia and Colin. I'm so looking forward to the novella, Betrayed, for the next adventures of Cyn and Raphael. Until then, do yourself a favor and get into this amazing series. Happy reading!
The Vignettes feature:
- erotic themes
- oral sex
- paranormal romance

Betrayed: A Cyn & Raphael Novella (Vampires In America #5.5)
Love, the ache in your heart when you meet the one. It can take you to soaring heights; and it can leave you bleeding in the wreckage. Loyalty, the thing which binds a Vampire Lord to his children for eternity ... unless it rots from within, birthing hatred. Betrayal, it comes in many forms and from many sources ... love ... loyalty ... betrayal. War has come to the North American vampires, and Vampire Lords are reaching across territorial lines to strengthen allies and weaken enemies. The most powerful Lord of them all, Raphael, could change the course of the war and determine who raises the final banner of victory. But at what price? And will his mate, Cyn, be the one to pay it?
My Review:
Cyn and Raphael are visiting one of Raphael's territories in Colorado, but things aren’t all fun and games. Someone takes a shot at Raphael which greatly upsets Cyn. She wants vengeance and blood for the hurt her heart endured thinking Raphael could come to harm.
Cyn meets Raphael's replacement for Duncan, Jared Lincoln, but she'll reserve judgment if he's truly suitable. Raphael knows this is spillover from Lucas and Klemens’ war. Raphael has every confidence in Lucas' abilities, but he won't step in until it's absolutely necessary.
Will Cyn and company find the person responsible for Raphael's attack? When will the war between Lucas and Klemens be resolved? Your answers await you in Betrayed: A Cyn and Raphael Novella.

Ms. Reynolds has pulled off another awesome classic Cyn and Raphael story. We get to see further into Raphael's thinking and behavior. Cyn is her usual self and makes no apologies for it, either. It's always funny to watch Cyn interact with other people, especially her bitchy half sister. I loved Cyn putting Holly in her place: priceless. I'm looking forward to reading the sixth installment of this series, Lucas. I want to know all about this new vampire lord!Betrayed features:
- erotic themes
- oral sex
- paranormal romance
- alpha male
- vampire
- mystery
