5 Kiss Review: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

20821174

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.
Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

My Review:

Hazel Grace Lancaster has cancer and she would rather go through life without making connections or friends. Hazel is wise beyond her years, but she knows she's dying a little everyday.

Hazel attends a support group for cancer survivors where she meets Augustus Waters. Augustus Waters becomes friends with Hazel in only a way someone with cancer can.

Augustus or Gus always greets Hazel as Hazel Grace which pleases her. As time goes by, Gus and Hazel bond in a deeper way because of a book that leads to a series of events that change the course of their lives forever.

When Gus's cancer comes back, it's up to Hazel to bring comfort to Gus. Who will die? And who will live? Your answers await you in The Fault in Our Stars.

I'm blown away and heartbroken by this book. From first page to last, I was drawn into the story, and I couldn’t put the book down. The last few chapters literally had me bawling my eyes out.

John Green has written an extraordinary story that is truly thought provoking as it is gut-wrenching. I plan to read more of this author's work in the future.
