Three signs that something is very different with your new man:
1. He sleeps all day . . . which would be annoying except he's so attentive at night.
2. He's attacked by sword-wielding assailants, yet insists he can handle it on his own.
3. He never seems to age.
Heather Westfield has always lived a quiet life, but that all changes when she helps a very handsome, very mysterious stranger.
There's something not quite right about Jean-Luc, but still, she's never been with a man so charming, so attractive . . . so wonderful. Now if only a murderous villain wasn't after them, they might get their happily-ever-after.
My Review:
Jean-Luc Echarpe, a vampire, is a famous French designer. He’s slowly being forced into retirement due in part to not taking Angus's advice about reinventing himself. After all, people have started noticing he hasn’t aged a day and are starting to ask too many questions. He only has himself to blame for it. He decides to hide out in Texas – of all places – and hosts a grand opening of a new store.
He spies a young woman sketching his designs and he becomes furious with her. Heather Lynn Westfield was looking at Echarpe's designs, thinking she could make them better and more realistic than a size zero and into a size 12 instead.
When Jean-Luc accuses her of stealing his designs, it’s not long before he learns how wrong he was after all. Heather is his ideal woman full of luscious curves. Things work out, and Jean-Luc offers Heather a temporary job designing clothes.
Meanwhile, Jean-Luc's old enemy, Lui, returns to exact his revenge on him and threatens Heather's life as well.
Things then happen very quickly. Little did both Heather and Jean-Luc know how fast their lives would change. And then there’s Heather's daughter, Bethany, to contend with as well. She really turns Jean-Luc's world upside down. Will she accept? Will Jean-Luc discover his lost heart? Will Heather admit her attraction and love to him? Your answers await you in The Undead Next Door.

I have to admit, the Love at Stake series has me hooked and I appear to be going through each book very quickly. Even though the vampire characters can appear to be monster-like, they're anything but. They're just as human as you and me.
My heart melting moment began with Jean-Luc speaking to Bethany while Heather was outside the room and he told her he’d play the crocodile while she played as Barbie, and he calls her a princess. A very endearing scene follows and I just teared up! I can't say anything else, or I'd spoil it for everyone. Happy Reading!
