What happens when you marry a serious intellectual with a rich fantasy life to a perfectionistic overachiever with a hot body? Sometimes you get discord and separation. Other times, you get Goodreads, too many bottles of Haut-Brion, a luxe swingers club, and Lexus sex.
Barton and Katelyn Fiske are a normal couple with some all-too-normal marital issues. The Fiskes have two small children, an underwater mortgage, and too many bills to pay. He works hard, she spends harder. They haven't had sex in months, and Barton is sleeping in the den of their colonial-style home in Downwind Beach, Florida. The Fiskes attend couples’ counseling, but it isn’t helping. They're on the verge of breaking up their ten-year marriage.
Katelyn wants her husband to stop fantasizing about a woman from his past. Barton wants his wife to stop prying into his private thoughts. And Dr. Colony, their high-end Palm Beach therapist, wants husband and wife to practice her mutualization exercises so that they can enjoy a normal relationship.
Fuck normal, Barton thinks. Little does he know, his wife is thinking the same thing.
My Review:
By all appearances, you'd think that The Fiskes have a perfect marriage, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Barton (Bart) Fiske has been forced into celibacy for the past eleven months because his wife Katelyn (Kate) refuses to share her body with a man who can't forget a past sexual encounter.
Bart and Kate are in couples’ therapy, but it doesn't appear to be working for either of them. When Kate issues the demand that Bart forget his obsession with The Jersey Devil, Bart is stunned, yet it seems that there is no choice for him but to see it through.
Bart reluctantly gives into Kate's demand which upsets her more. Will Kate and Bart reconcile? Can Bart forget his obsession? Your answers await you in F*ck Normal.

F*ck Normal is appropriately titled and well written as well. It tells us how a couple goes astray and how clueless they are to get back what they had to begin with. Ms. Corrigan's writing and characters leap off the page. I was sucked into the book from first page to last page.
F*ck Normal is clever, witty, insightful, raises questions, and explores new ideas. I will definitely read more of this author's work in the future.
F*ck Normal features:
- romance
- sexual content
- angst
- quick read
