Review: Frostbite (Vampire Academy #2) by Richelle Mead

2282133

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...
It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

My Review:

Words cannot adequately express the action packed rollercoaster ride that is Frostbite, Richelle Mead’s second installment of her Vampire Academy series.

As much as I tried to fight it and tried to put this book down, I just couldn’t and read it in one go! Foregoing sleep is never a good idea, but I just couldn’t help myself – Frostbite was just too good!

Everything begins right where the previous book leaves off.  Rose and Lissa are settling into the school. Both girls’ love lives are at the center stage, but of course my favorite one hands down is Rose.

Rose can’t stop her feelings for Dimitri, but she has to contend with a new player who vying for his attention. Then there’s Mason, a dhampir student who just won’t take no for an answer. Poor Mason’s not even a contender, but our girl Rose still has her fill of dealing with things.

But just before things can go back to normal, several Strigoi attack the academy. A plan is put into motion to move classes to a ski resort for the holidays. To make things worse, Rose’s mother joins the group, dredging up all sorts of issues with Rose.

Everything goes downhill from there – especially since Rose and a few of her friends decide to take on the Strigoi threat on their own. This ends disastrously and they all get captured. *faints*

From this point on, it was every man for themselves and you won’t believe who comes out on top! I have to keep going and get on with the next book in this series. I have to know what happens next! Smile
