Review: Aden (Vampires in America #7) by D.B. Reynolds

17729791

She was seeking revenge. What she found was a vampire who swept her into the darkest depths of passion.
Chicago, Illinois... the windy city. Home to football greats, dinosaurs named Sue, and, when the sun goes down... powerful vampires battling for the right to rule the city and beyond.
Born into slavery, Aden is one of the most powerful vampires in North America, waging war on others of his kind in a struggle to become the next Lord of the Midwest. But in the midst of the deadliest fight of his long life, the ghosts of his past have come back to haunt him. Slavery still exists, and Aden is hellbent on destroying it and the vampires who profit from it.
Sidonie Reid is an investigative reporter in pursuit of the biggest story of her career, until that story costs the life of a friend and Sid realizes she has to do much more than write about it. Intent on bringing down the vampires and their slave network, Sid gains entry to the highest levels of vampire society, where she finds herself confronting the raw sexuality that is Aden.
Caught up in a dark passion that neither can resist, Aden and Sidonie join forces, determined to defeat the old regime and everything it stands for. The dangers are beyond calculation, but the ultimate reward is worth the risk. If they survive... photo Goodreadslips.jpg

My Review:

Sidonie (Sid) Reid is an investigative reporter who's trying to put an end to a slavery ring in Chicago that grew under the late Lord Klemens. She just needs to find the right vampire to tell her what is going on in this territory.

Sid's date, Travis (Trav), snags a coveted invitation to a Vampire Gala where the Lords from surrounding territories give their blessing for challenge in succession to begin. Only Aden appears to be the next Lord of Midwest Territory and is no stranger to what it means to be a slave.

When Sid explains there’s a slavery ring operating in the territory, she unknowingly triggers a surprising reaction from Aden. Aden is thrust back into the past where he was a slave subjected to suffer the pleasure or displeasure of his mistress or master’s whim.

Aden surprisingly wants to protect Sid from harm and help her end the slavery ring. Sid reveals that Aden and company missed an important vampire in the slavery ring named Carl Pinto, but Aden shrugs it off. Will the slavery ring be stopped? What does Sid mean to Aden? Will Aden become next Vampire Lord? Your answers await you in Aden.

I just adore this series. I've found a new favorite in Aden. Please don't get me wrong, I love Raphael and Lucas, but there is just something about Aden that curls my toes. All I can think of is one word: Yum! I found that Sidonie Reid is on par as a heroine like Cyn. She can match Aden toe to toe and then some. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in series. I think it needs to hurry up though!

Aden features:

  • erotic themes
  • oral sex
  • backdoor play
  • paranormal romance
  • alpha male
  • vampires
  • suspense
  • mystery
