Hello, Fellow Readers! Please join me in welcoming S.H. Kolee, author of Seeing Shadows to the blog!
Seeing Shadows by S.H. Kohlee
Caitlin Kile was living a normal college life full of parties and early morning classes. Living with her best friend and enjoying her senior year, Caitlin's life seemed idyllic.
Until her neighbor's cousin, Simon Crewe, transferred to her school, unbalancing her tightly controlled life. Because control was one thing Caitlin desperately needed.
Simon was instantly attracted to Caitlin, but he couldn't seem to get past her guarded walls. Caitlin wasn't planning on competing with all the groupies clamoring for Simon's attention ever since he became the lead singer of a popular band. But despite Caitlin's refusal to show any interest in him, Simon couldn't seem to shake his attraction to her.
But Simon didn't know everything about Caitlin. He didn't know about the images of death that haunted her while she was awake. Or the gripping terrors that plagued her at night.
And Simon couldn't possibly know that those terrors were determined to destroy him.
S.H. Kolee: I started my career in the corporate world until I realized that sitting behind a desk and analyzing spreadsheets was making me go slowly insane (although there are have been doubts about my sanity before then). I had always written as a hobby, but it wasn't until recently that I decided to actually let other people read the thoughts in my head. And those thoughts always steered in the direction of romance with a dash of hot lurid steamy sex. The steamier the better!
I blame it on all the romance novels I read when I was younger, although they were somewhat tame by today's standards. That didn't stop me from getting all hot and bothered by sex scenes that used euphemisms such as "manhood" and "womanly flower." Since it was before the advent of e-books, where you can read the dirtiest thing imaginable without anyone being the wiser, it was somewhat of an effort hiding all those bodice-ripping covers from my disapproving mother. She lamented the fact that I wasn't reading War and Peace. No offense to Tolstoy, but he ain't having his heroes rip off a woman's clothing and screw her senseless.*
Seeing Shadows is the first book of the Shadow Series. It's a paranormal romance, but not in the usual vein. There are no brooding vampires or moody angels to be found. I was actually inspired to write it because of a spooky experience I had one night. I kept having a sense of deja vu and creepy sensations while I was home alone. I'm a scaredy cat at heart, but instead of blubbering in the corner, I started Googling what I was feeling, which lead me to discover a frightening folklore that I had never heard about. It got the wheels turning in my head, and Seeing Shadows was the result.
I hope everyone enjoys the book. I'm currently working on the second book of the series, but I have a separate contemporary romance scheduled to release in September. It's called Love Left Behind, and it's about what happens when an ordinary woman falls in love with the man of her dreams, only to be ripped apart by obligation. It's hard enough getting over an ex. It's even harder when that ex turns into the next Hollywood heartthrob and you spend your days trying to avoid his face plastered on magazine covers. It's harder still when he thrusts himself back into your life. It's on the racier side (racy = good) and I hope everyone enjoys it. Thanks!
*Okay, I admit it. I actually like the book War and Peace. Sorry Leo, I didn't mean to disparage your book.
