If it was still beating. Angus MacKay has been undead for almost five hundred years and it's not often something, or someone, surprises him. Until Emma Wallace. The sight of this luscious agent from the CIA's elite Stake-Out team was enough to stop Angus in his tracks. But then he discovers that she's a vampire slayer, intent on killing the "monsters" who killed her parents. And it's Angus's job to stop her.
The only good vampire is a dead vampire. It's been Emma's motto since she committed her life to the destruction of "these" things. Now Angus MacKay wants to convince her differently.
Sure, he's a sexy Highland warrior who seems to have stepped off the cover of a romance novel, complete with brogue, kilt, and sword, but he's also one of them. And it's her job to kill him.
The war is on, but will it end in the destruction of one or both of them . . . or in total surrender to a passion for the ages?
My Review:
Emma Wallace believes that there’s no good in vampires. She hates all vampires equally in part to her parents’ violent death at their hands. Emma has been secretly killing vampires and doesn't plan on stopping any time soon, either.
Angus MacKay, head of MacKay Securities and Investigation, is charged with protecting many major vampire coven leaders.
Katya is the leader of local Malcontents who blames Roman for the death of its members. She'll go to war with Roman if it's not stopped and soon.
Roman tasks Angus with finding the slayer. Angus is a little surprised to find out the slayer is woman, but not just any woman, either.
Angus finds himself face-to-face with Emma Wallace of the Stake-Out Team. Angus greets Emma, never letting on that he knows her true identity.
Emma is immediately attracted to Angus, thinking he's human. Slowly Emma realizes that Angus is a vampire who is trying to talk her out of killing his kind.
Emma wonders if what Shanna said was true, despite what Sean Whelan would have everyone believing about vampires. Angus gently persuades Emma of the truth regarding the two factions of vampires. Will Emma accept the truth? Can Emma admit she's falling for Angus? What will stop Sean Whelan? Your answers await you in Be Still My Vampire Heart.

The Love at Stake Series, to me, is similar to the Vampires in America and Scansguard. I love seeing the progression with each new novel. I also think that the characters and the storytelling are wonderful and flawed, too. I'm definitely looking forward to my next adventure in this series.
Be Still My Vampire Heart features:
