Review & Giveaway – Reverb by J. Cafesin

James Micheal Whren is brilliant, beautiful, rich, and taken—with his genius for creating music. He's desired by many, yet commits to no one but his muse. Just twenty-eight, and at the pinnacle of his career, on the eve of his brother's funeral his father shatters his life, and James is left abandoned in hell with no one real to save him.
His odyssey to freedom takes him beyond the looking glass, to the reflection of friends and lovers. Humbled and alone, James escapes to the Greek island of Corfu. But instead of finding solace there, loneliness almost consumes him.
Until Elisabeth, and her son, Cameron.
Reverb is a love story, a psychological thriller paced with romantic suspense. The story chronicles intricately woven characters fraught with frailties that possess us all, and that linger long after the read. It is a tale of redemption—the evolution of a modern man from solipsist to integrated awareness, and the journey that inadvertently awakens his capacity to love.
Spun from The Magus, also about a man who learns to love someone other than himself, and way beyond 50 Shades of Gray, Reverb is told like Crime and Punishment--modern, clean, edgy verging on sharp. Like nothing you've read, guaranteed. photo Goodreadslips.jpg

My Review:

Sir James Michael Whren is a musician who goes by the name James Logan. While attending his half brother's funeral in England, he feels anxious to get back to his music studio to continue working on his current project.

His father, Edward Whren, wants to have a chat with him about his future, which leaves James feeling resentful and sullen to his father's presence. Edward continues the conversation he started five years prior with his son, but James doesn’t want go down that road again. James wants nothing to do with Whren Trust or inheriting anything from his father, Edward.

Edward Whren hatches a plan to keep James in England, but he could not foresee what happens next to James. James is arrested at Heathrow Airport on a trumped up charge of dealing drugs and forced into rehab. You would think this was a serious enough event, but this marks only the beginning of how James’ life turns into a living nightmare for the next year and a half.

James manages to escape where he's being held to eventually arrive at the States to gain access to his own money, and promptly disappears. He hides on a Greek island called Corfu and eventually meets Elisabeth Whitestone and her son, Cameron.

James slowly comes out of his shell being around Elisabeth and Cameron. James is completely haunted by his past and can't seem to shake just wanting to die. Elisabeth knows that something awful happened to James and she eventually gets him to start eating and pick up his musical skills again. Will James let his past continue to haunt him? Will James find his muse again? Will James love both Elisabeth and Cameron? Will Elisabeth admit her feelings for James? Your answers await you in Reverb.

I honestly don't have the words to explain or describe how this book affected me. I applaud the author for boldly stepping into this dark path and for having the courage to follow through with it. I highly recommend this book. I look forward to next book presented by this author.
