My Review:
Dancer "Hauk" Hauk is of The Warring Blood Clan of Hauk, a proud Andarion. He’s taking his nephew, Darice, and his adopted niece, Thia, on the Andarion tradition called The Endurance Test.
Hauk wants to be anywhere but here doing The Endurance Test because he doesn't have a good feeling about it along with all of his bad memories, too. But Hauk can't ignore Andarion tradition which would lead to some serious backlash from his family. Hauk would do anything for his adopted family.
Sumi Antaxas is a League Assassin being forced into a situation with no good outcome for her and her daughter, Kalea. Sumi is injured while trying to reach Hauk. Sumi didn't count on Hauk having his nephew and niece with him. The more Sumi learns about Hauk, the more she knows she can't turn him over to Kyr, no matter what happens. Can Sumi trust Hauk? I’m totally blown away by this book. I wanted to kill Hauk's mother and his sister-in-law; just hearing them talk made me cringe.
Hauk has always fascinated me much like Nykyrion. Both men take care of others before themselves and are quite honorable, too. The characters and story just really take my breath away for what they go through. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
