The only good Secret is a buried Secret.
Secret McQueen has hunted vampires, werewolves, and every conceivable supernatural menace-to-society. Seen it all? Not even close. When the queen of the were-ocelots comes to her for help finding a missing girl, the half-vampire/half-werewolf soon realizes how much she has to learn about the things that go bump in the night.
The case of the missing cat is one thing. Pile it up with her new duties as a Tribunal Leader, her tenuous position as mate to the king of the Eastern werewolves, and a slew of new (and unwelcome) supernatural abilities, and Secret is once again in familiar territory. "Way" over her head. But for this multitasking half-breed, it's business as "un"usual.
What knocks her for a loop, though, isn t her lover s intoxicating kiss. It s the missing memories rushing at her from out of nowhere, signaling a rapidly approaching fork in her destiny. Her choice will affect not only her life, but her love.
My Review:
In the previous book, Secret was asked to kill Holden and she set out to prove his innocence and therefore lift the hit on his head. To accomplish this though, Secret had to go through one of the council members – literally – and due to vampire law, she’s now a new member of the vampire tribunal.
This is just adding more to Secret’s already full plate of things she’s got to contend with: her complicated relationship with Desmond and Lucas, her two enemies – Alexandre and her mom constantly gunning for her, and everyone else and their mother who’s got a problem for Secret to solve.
Speaking of which, in the midst of all this turmoil, the Queen of the Ocelots comes to her for help. One of her relatives is missing and it’s up to Secret to find out what happened.
To get a break from all her insanity, Secret takes the case and along with Holden they set out to find out what happened to the missing college girl. What Secret uncovers is a ghastly mystery surrounding a creepy college professor and can you believe it – her ex!!!
The humans really come out to play in this book and Secret must decide to bring in Tyler (a detective) or not into the already dangerous fray she and her detective friend, Mercedes, already share.
Lots of gore and memory swiping going around, plus things get extra steamy for Secret. Can Secret make it out alive or will everything come crashing down on her?
