My Review:
This book takes off running and it’s a non-stop action packed ride featuring a snarky female with an appetite for men I just couldn’t get enough of! Though it wasn’t erotica, the paranormal romance in the book more than makes up for it. I definitely delved into this series head first!
Secret McQueen is a rare hybrid creature: part vampire, part werewolf. She’s so unique that there isn’t any mention of anyone like her at all throughout the series. Her own werewolf mother abandoned her and Secret was raised by her grandmother who has the magical gift.
When she finally comes of age, Secret settles in New York. There, she becomes a vampire assassin who goes after vampire rogues who don’t want to follow the rules. Sig is a vampire who controls the vampire tribunal and Secret answers to him and to vampire, Holden – who is her handler.
But having two sets of powers isn’t to her benefit. She still can’t go out in the sunlight and she can’t shift into a wolf. However, Secret has all but settled into her life and is content with her job and the small apartment she’s able to afford.
But everything changes when she meets Lucas Rain, the eccentric billionaire who is actually the Werewolf King of the East Coast. Not only does Secret feel an instant connection to him, but she also can’t help herself around his second-in-command, Desmond. Secret learns they’re mates and before she can wrap her head around this, an enemy from the past rears his ugly head.
Holden and Secret can’t prepare for the evil that is Alexandre Peyton. He’s had it in for Secret ever since she plucked out one of his fangs in a battle that almost killed them both. Now he’s back for revenge and making an army of new vampires to make things hard for Secret.
Can Secret make it through fighting her old archenemy and juggle two men at the same time? And what about Holden? Goodness, what’s a girl to do?
