Top supermodel, Angel Dias, lives the life of the rich and fabulous, until a heinous car accident mars her face. After thirteen surgeries and losing everything she deemed important, she seeks out the dark forces to salvage her life and decides to conjure the Devil for help, making a deal to recover her beauty. In exchange for his help, Lucifer forces her to hunt supernatural renegades, which have eluded the pits of Hell. In her quest to find beauty and get out of her contract with Lucifer, Angel stumbles upon love in the arms of a demon.
Commander of the Legions and an Underworld Demon, Jacque Toussant, takes a field commission to escape the madness of a failed relationship and prove himself worthy of his demon heritage. Jacque is content with his existence as a field soldier until Lucifer gives him a special assignment to oversee a new trainee, a supermodel nonetheless. Humans hold low appeal for Jacque, especially the females. That is until he meets Angel. Jacque risks everything, including his life, to find a way to break Angel?s deal with Lucifer.
My Review:
Angelique (Angel) Dias is a top supermodel until her modeling career is ruined by a horrific automobile accident which leaves her scarred and burned. Angel's mom, Elise, won't accept Angel being disfigured and takes her to doctor after doctor, unwilling to accept the truth.
Angel knows that doctor's can't help her, but thinks making a deal with The Devil to restore her beauty is the answer to her problems. She sees no harm in making the deal as she thinks that beauty's only skin deep and vanity isn't one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Lucifer (Luc) offers Angel her beauty back on the condition she doesn't refuse any job he asks of her. Angel agrees to the terms readily, in spite of having lingering doubts about her decision. Luc tells Angel that she'll be meeting someone to get her into training.
Jacque Toussant, a demon who wants nothing to do with humans period, is being sent by Luc to retrieve said human for training. Jacque is gifted with empathic abilities that sometimes can be overwhelming to him, which is another reason why he avoids being around humans. Jacque’s whole world is turned upside down upon seeing Angel.
Jacque's attraction to Angel is very much mutual, yet Angel holds back a piece of herself from him. Jacque's ex, Isabella (Bell) LaCoste, becomes jealous of Jacque's attraction to Angel. Will Angel learn her true worth? Will Angel refuse a job? Can Angel get through training? What will Bell do to Angel? Will Jacque gain control over his emotions? Will either Angel or Jacque act on their attraction? Your answers await you in Soul Catcher.
~~~~~~~~~
Soul Catcher showcases a unique twist on making a deal with The Devil. You really almost want to like Luc, yet find yourself hating him instead. I almost didn't really relate to Angel until her emotional scars became apparent.
Angel is a mixture of raw pain, filled with self-doubt and self-loathing, unloved, and despised. These venomous things are courtesy of her mother's own jealousy.
Jacque is absolutely dreamy and an Alpha Male with his own set of flaws and shortcomings which is what makes him and Angel work as a couple. I'll be honest, I truly despise Bell from her voice, her actions, and her plotting drives me batty. Another hunk is Laurent, I hope we see more of him. I think the author did good job world building and established good main and secondary characters. I look forward to reading the next installment.
